Investigate breaches of the act If breach found to have occurred in contravention of the Act, enforcement Notice issued requiring specific action

Non-compliance without reasonable excuse is an offence

Require supplying of information to commissioner. Exceptions: security of the state. Court order. Non-compliance is an offence

Prevent transfer of protected data abroad

Prosecution: Officers of corporate may be charged with offence if committed with their consent or through their negligence.

Report put before the Oireachteas

Register: some organisations are required. Financial and govt.

Can’t keep personal info. If not registered. Info can only be obtained/processed/transmitted/used in accordance with details of registration. Renewable annually.
